5TH GRADERS!!!
Assignment notebook update: We will have assignment notebooks for purchase. They are being ordered now. We anticipate the cost to be $5.00. I will let you know if that changes.
I hope that you all have had enjoyable and relaxing summers and are ready to get back to school. J Although August still seems like it should be “summer” and not “school” to me, I have had a mind shift as I been in the school getting the classroom ready.
Current 6th graders (Can you believe YOU are the 6th graders now??): We will have an open house on Tuesday, August 14th @ 7 PM. The new students will be there with their parents (if they are in town). If you would like to drop in and welcome them to our room, you are more than welcome to come and introduce yourself to them. You also can bring your supplies and put them in your desks if you’d like.
Current 5th graders: Our Open House is Tuesday, August 14th @ 7 PM in the gym. Again, this is totally optional. If you cannot make that time but would like to drop off materials/supplies before the first day, I will be working until 6 PM on Monday, August 20th. I will have meetings in the AM, so afternoon would be best.
I’m going through Olympic withdrawal right now! I just love the Olympics, and I choke up every time an American wins and the Star Spangled Banner is played. Just can’t help myself!
I’ve been quilting, tubing, reading, cleaning, organizing, and running this summer. I look forward to hearing about your adventures, travels, and leisure activities in a week!

2 – Boxes of No. 2 pencils SHARPENED OR 12 pack mechanical pencils (Be sure to read note about mechanical pencils that was sent to your parents' email.)
1 – Fine point black Sharpie
1- Ultra fine point black Sharpie
2 – Correcting pens (red or green)
2 - Lined notebook paper
1 - Scissors (regular size)
1 - Ruler – “inch & metric”
2 - Glue sticks
Colored pencils SHARPENED
1 - Hand calculator (Dollar Store)
6 – Spiral notebooks
4 - Folders (Home, Science, Math, Reading/Lang)
2 dry-erase markers and eraser (small rag/sock/cloth)
1 – Assignment book ($5.00 at Poly Drive office OR bring one of your choice. A regular notebook would work)
2 - Highlighters
*1 – Pencil bag or pencil box
2-3 boxes of tissues—Students with last names S-W
1 container of disinfecting wipes—Students with last names H-R
1 LARGE container of hand sanitizer—Students with last names B-G

1-flash/jump/thumb drive
*small Post-it notes (we have some left over from last year)
**Healthy snacks-AM only. No sharing.
